Regional Sales Manager

(NYC area based)

Responsibilities:

The Regional Sales Manager will directly manage BGI’s genomics service business with government, academic and industrial accounts in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US. The candidate will be responsible for revenue generation and business growth in the designated geographical region.

Essential Functions:

1. Assume overall accountability for establishing and implementing an effective sales plan, meeting regional sales goals with budgeted resources and developing key account sales strategies.
2. Understand and maintain current knowledge of the company’s products and services. Keep informed on technological developments, market competition, policies and regulation, etc., in the genomics space. Utilize resources and perform research to determine sales patterns and strategies for different market sectors.
3. Perform territory business analysis and report results to the Director of Sales on a regular basis. Evaluate budget execution, product performance, operation efficiency within territory and report results/suggestions to leadership team.
4. Identify key business opportunities in research, government and biotech space. Develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders. Utilize customer resources to expand BGI’s influence and to secure key business opportunities.
5. Effectively coordinate with Account Manager, Project Manager and the Production Team to ensure smooth execution of projects and proper communication of project status to clients. Work with Product Managers through collaborative projects with key clients to drive product development.
6. Attend national and regional conferences, trade shows and corporate meetings as scheduled.
7. Understand BGI’s value proposition in broader scope and being able to communicate BGI‘s vision beyond sequencing services.

Job Requirements:

1. Minimum BS in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics or equivalent science degree.

2. Minimum 3 years of account management experience in Biotech industry.
3. Proficiency in selling next generation sequencing and other genomic services such as microarray, genotyping, diagnostics, etc.
4. Strong understanding of the market and customer needs within the Next Generation

Sequencing industry.

5. Willingness to travel at least 50% of time.
6. Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.
7. Require American citizenship or with working permit in US.

Senior Manager, Technical Support

(San Jose, California based)
 

Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for providing pre- and post-sales technical support to new and existing customers of BGI’s COVID-19 testing solution. The technical support roles include but are not limited to providing technical consultation, assisting assay verification and validation, performing trouble shooting, etc. to ensure successful adoption of BGI’s COVID-19 testing products for SARS-CoV-2 clinical testing.
 
Essential Functions:

1. Maintain current knowledge of the company’s COVID-19 diagnostic kits and automation solutions. Stay informed of company’s product development pipeline.
2. Provide technical support to sales and marketing team.
3. Provide technical support to clinical laboratories in North America regions that employ BGI COVID-19 testing solution
4. Provide technical consultation to new customers to assess customer’s experience and eligibility, laboratories’ readiness in adopting company’s COVID-19 diagnostic products. Guide customer to best prepare laboratory setup and staff training in order to ensure successful adoption. Perform training to customers to ensure proper use of company’s products during assay setup and verification phase. Interpret assay performance data from early runs, perform trouble shooting, fine tuning to ensure proper assay setup.
5. Periodically check in with existing customer to ensure product performance meeting expectation. Discuss technical issues with customer and internal technical experts to improve product performance at customer laboratory.
6. Document quality issue and troubleshooting track record from customer site, routinely report to company’s QA, R&D and manufacturing departments. Advise product and R&D teams to implement improvements in product development and manufacturing if necessary.
7. Serve as US based liaison for QA and regulatory affairs. Interact with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance if necessary.
8. Prepare and update technical guideline, FAQ, training material, protocols, as technical support tools to ensure successful adoption of company’s products for new users.
9. Perform technical training to commercial, technical and support teams as necessary.
10. Perform product QC to ensure product quality as requested by Logistics. Perform product R&D in laboratory to fulfill scope of collaboration with key clients.
11. Keep informed of market segmentation and competition, technology developments, policies and regulation related to IVD markets in COVID-19 and other respiratory disease areas;

 
Job Requirements:

1. Minimum MS degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or equivalent majors. Ph.D. preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years experience in clinical assay development, validation and implementation. Familiar with setting-up & running PCR/qPCR assays on various RT-PCR instruments, nucleic acid extractions, in a BSL-2 environment required. Experience of performing molecular diagnostic laboratory testing with an advanced understanding of laboratory instrumentation in a CLIA laboratory preferred.
3. Familiar with clinical high complexity lab operation, FDA regulation in IVD products, training in quality compliance preferred.
4. Knowledge of next generation sequencing technology, applications, genetic testing, bioinformatics preferred.
5. Strong communication skills. Experience in customer facing technical support preferred.
6. Willingness to travel 25% of time.
7. American citizen or working permit in the US required.

Lab Technician
(Montreal, Canada)
 
Position Summary:
BGI Americas is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join its BGIA Support team.  This position provides an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to BGIA’s goal of improving human health by providing genomic information to understand, prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases and conditions.  As a member of the BGIA Support team, the position will support next generation processes for genome sequencing.  The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing standard work procedures on a wide range of molecular biology techniques related to Next Generation Sequencing.
 
Major Responsibilities:

1. Execute on and assist in the development of process instructions that ensure accuracy, throughput, and quality.
2. Operate and monitor laboratory automation and instrumentation.  Communicate issues and failures as necessary to the appropriate parties.
3. Apply knowledge and experience in specialized areas, with an understanding of the underlying biochemistry.  Use that knowledge and understanding to address problems and situations ordinarily encountered in laboratory manufacturing processes.
4. Functional understanding of Operational Excellence principles, including Lean, 5S, and Kaizen, and has the ability to apply them to the workplace.
5. General lab duties, such as restocking supplies and maintaining inventory.
6. Individual will be required to identify, communicate and participate in continuous improvement efforts.
7. Will be responsible for working within the team to communicate goals, collaborate on initiatives and deliver on key performance indicators.
8. Will utilize various manufacturing systems and applications for performing work duties, including LIMS and other proprietary software.
9. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

 
Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology or related field with 1-2 years of industry experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
2. Previous Next Gen Sequencing experience highly desirable.

 
Preferred Qualifications

1. Molecular biology experience acquired from working with technologies such as PCR, sequencing, microarrays, and liquid handling automation is preferred.
2. Familiarity with processes used in molecular biology production and R&D environments.
3. Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with great attention to detail and record keeping.
4. Proficiency in the use of basic molecular biology laboratory techniques, equipment and materials required, as well as experience with Good Laboratory Practices and aseptic techniques.
5. Bloodborne pathogen training and experience with current Hep B vaccination status.
6. Demonstrated ability and desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced lab environment.   Should be familiar with systems and processes used in such settings, such as the use of SOP’s and LIMS.
7. Demonstrated strength in working within a team, as well as ability to work effectively independently.  Should be well organized, self-motivated and possess excellent time management skills.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
9. Ability to multitask and adapt to rapidly changing requirements.
10. Attention to detail, with good problem solving and analytical thinking skills required.
11. Quality minded, customer focused and driven by desire for continuous improvement.
12. Demonstrated capability to interact effectively with cross functional partners, notably Development, Research, Supply Chain, and other dependent manufacturing teams.
13. Strong technical ability and demonstrated proficiency in performing and troubleshooting molecular biology systems.
14. Experience with Operational Excellence, Lean Manufacturing desired.
15. Strong documentation skills and experience using standard data analysis tools are required.
16. Experience in quality systems and resource planning is desirable.
